A 10 kilo-ohm carbon film resistor in the standard quarter-watt through-hole package used throughout hobby and prototype electronics. The most used pull-up and pull-down value in microcontroller circuits, and the standard value for holding an input at a defined logic level. Value is marked with the standard four-band colour code. Remember the power rating when choosing: a quarter-watt part dissipating more than that will discolour, drift in value and eventually fail, so check current and voltage across the resistor in higher power circuits.
