DC Motor With Wheel
Geared DC motor with wheel, the standard drive unit for robot cars
The familiar yellow gearbox motor supplied with a wheel, the drive unit in nearly every two and four wheel robot car project. It runs from 3 to 6 volts, so a small battery pack drives it directly, and the plastic gearbox reduces speed to something a robot can actually steer. Torque and speed are modest and the plastic gears will not survive heavy loads, but for a learning platform or a line follower it is exactly the right part. Drive it through an L298N or similar, never directly from an Arduino pin. Optical sensing with no contact wear; NPN open collector output suits PLCs and microcontrollers; Quadrature A/B output gives direction as well as count; Rugged metal housing for machine mounting
