LM317T Voltage Regulator

An adjustable regulator whose output is set by two resistors, giving any voltage from 1.2 to 37 volts from a single part. That flexibility is why it remains popular: one component covers every voltage instead of stocking nine different fixed regulators. It also works as an adjustable constant current source with a single resistor, which makes it a common LED driver. Like all linear regulators it dissipates the voltage difference as heat and needs a heatsink under load.
