An industrial incremental encoder that reports shaft rotation as electrical pulses, for position feedback, speed measurement and length counting on machinery. At 100 pulses per revolution it resolves roughly 3.6 degrees per pulse in single-edge counting, or four times finer if you decode all quadrature edges. The 8 mm shaft suits larger couplings and heavier machinery. This lower resolution is aimed at speed sensing and coarse counting. The NPN open collector output needs a pull-up resistor to your logic supply, and because it is incremental rather than absolute, position is lost at power-off and must be re-referenced against a home switch.
