220R Resistors

A 220 ohm carbon film resistor in the standard quarter-watt through-hole package used throughout hobby and prototype electronics. The single most used resistor in hobby electronics - the standard LED current limiter on a 5V supply, giving roughly 15 mA through a red LED. Value is marked with the standard four-band colour code. Remember the power rating when choosing: a quarter-watt part dissipating more than that will discolour, drift in value and eventually fail, so check current and voltage across the resistor in higher power circuits.
