Flame Sensor

Detects the infrared wavelengths emitted by an open flame, typically within about 80 cm and across roughly a 60 degree cone. Used in fire alarms, firefighting robot competitions and safety shutoff systems. It responds much faster than a smoke detector because it sees the flame directly rather than waiting for smoke to travel. Note that it can be triggered by strong sunlight and by incandescent bulbs, which emit in the same band, so shield it from those sources.
