At 1000 pulses per revolution it resolves roughly 0.36 degrees per pulse in single-edge counting, or four times finer if you decode all quadrature edges. The highest resolution offered here, on the heavier 8 mm shaft. Verify your controller can handle the pulse rate at maximum shaft speed before specifying it. The NPN open collector output needs a pull-up resistor to your logic supply, and because it is incremental rather than absolute, position is lost at power-off and must be re-referenced against a home switch.
